What is Vexillology?
Vexillology is a discipline that studies flags analyzing all the cultural, social and political implications.
The term vexillology is composed of the Latin word "vexillum" and the Greek suffix "-logia" which means study. The vexillum was a Roman army insignia originally used by legionary cavalry during the Empire. The vexillum consisted of a square of red cloth attached to the top of a pole by means of a crossbar under the tip.
